For many years at Batter Up Kids Cooking School we taught the kids to make a simple soup for Halloween that always had the kids squealing and laughing, but also eating it up! It is called Noodle Brain Soup and is made with a base of ramen noodles. Try this for your Halloween party on Friday. It’s easy to put together, inexpensive and a favorite for kids of all ages. Noodle Brain Soup
Serves 8
Ingredients
4 packages vegetable or chicken-flavored ramen noodles
2 cups cooked and shredded chicken
1 cup fresh carrots, grated
4 scallions, thinly sliced
1 red bell pepper, diced
Let’s start Cooking!
1.In a large cook pot combine and cook all 4 packets of ramen noodles according to directions. Add the rest of ingredients and stir to blend. Heat through.
2.Serve in a hollowed-out pumpkin shell or a plastic food-safe Halloween witch’s cauldron.
Kids Cooking Shop Kitchen Tips
1. After the cooked chicken is cooled, kids can have great fun shredding the chicken with their fingers!
2. Let the kids help grate the carrots and chop the red bell pepper with a safety knife or heavy duty plastic picnic knife prior to adding to soup.
3. For a great kid-friendly vegetarian soup, substitute tofu for chicken.
