It’s almost Valentine’s Day and here’s a super quick , super delicious scone recipe that’s just perfect  for a Valentine’s Tea Party,  a Valentine’s Day Breakfast or just for snacking or lunch-packing !  What a sweet  Valentine treat, home-baked by a child to give to grandparents or aunts and uncles!


From the Pink Princess Cookbook, Barbara Beery

Makes 8-10 scones

1 1/2 cups

1/4 cup granulated sugar

2 teaspoons baking powder

1/8 teaspoon salt

1 cup milk chocolate chips

1 cup whipping cream plus 2 tablespoons

1/2 cup crushed peppermint candies

Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)


1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.

2. In a large mixing bowl, stir together flour sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.

3. Add 1 cup whipping cream to the mixture, stirring just until ingredients are moistened. Turn mixture out onto lightly floured surface. Knead gently until soft dough forms (about 2 minutes). Pat dough out to about 1 1/4 inch thickness. Cut out into assorted shapes.

4. Place scones 1 inch apart on foil-lined baking sheets that have been sprayed with non-stick cooking spray.

5. Brush each scone with the remaining 2 tablespoons whipping cream and sprinkle with crushed peppermint candy.

6.  Bake 15 to 20 minutes or until very lightly browned.

Pink Hot Chocolate  Serves: 2


½ cup White chocolate chips
1/2 Teaspoon Vanilla extract
2 cups low fat milk or Vanilla soy milk

2 tablespoons Maraschino Cherry juice


1. Put white chocolate chips in a mixing bowl. Set aside until ready to use. Heat the milk in a small saucepan over very low heat until steaming. Do not bring to a boil.

2. Pour heated milk over chocolate chips.  Add vanilla and  Maraschino cherry juice. Whisk to blend.

 To garnish:

1. Take 2 large marshmallows and dust with 1/4 teaspoon cornstarch. Flatten each marshmallow with your hand by pressing down slightly.

2. Use a ½ inch heart- shaped pastry cutter to cut out the marshmallow.

3. Garnish hot chocolate with marshmallow hearts.

It’s time for sweet Valentine’s Day Treats and nothing fits the bill like chocolate fondue! This recipe is delishly easy to make and  tastes great on everything…And it makes a crazy good topping for ice cream or frozen yogurt. When my kids were young and still at home, we used to make this every Valentine’s Day and sit on the floor in front of our freplace in the kitchen …Such a sweet memory. Try it with your family and start making your own sweet Valentine’s Day memories!

Can you Fondue? Makes 4 to 6 servings

 1/4 cup milk chocolate chips

1/3 cup whipping cream

½ teaspoon freshly grated ginger

1/2 teaspoon vanilla

Assorted Fresh fruits, marshmallows, cookies and cake cubes

 Let’s Make Fondue!

1. Heat milk chocolate, cream and grated ginger in a microwave-safe dish for 1 minute. Stir and heat again for another 30 seconds.

2. Remove bowl from microwave and stir in vanilla. Transfer to a fondue pot, a 2-to-4-cup slow cooker, or a small decorative bowl.

3. Using fondue forks or wooden bamboo skewers, dip fruits, marshmallows, and pieces of cake into fondue.

 Now you can fondue!
